i realised its been a long long time since last swam or danced.
have not swam for 7 months, and i meant like continuous lap swimming&i kinda miss the satisfactio i get from training harder each time in order to beat my personal best timing.
and have not danced for 17 months- all my leotards, stockings, ballet shoes, pointe shoes, tap shoes&costumes were untouched ever since that day i hurt my ankle real bad.
going back into dance is at the back of my mind,
well for the earlier part of this year.
busy schedule of school and soccer leaves me no time.
i cant recall how strong my passion for dance was before- dancing every single day from 6-10pm, up till the extent of suffering from gastric cause you cant have a full stomach to dance, and wouldnt miss a single dance class we had, feels like a sauna in the dance studio cause there were no aircons or fans or even a water break.
but it feels good after perspiring for 4 good hours.
it became a routine-sch.dance.sleep- for my whole sec1&2 yrs.
let me take you into the real world of dance:
blisters
pain
blood
muscle aches
upper back
lower back
rotate inner thighs
rotate&lock hips
lower&relax shoulders
look at audience
weight off your supporting leg
balances
splits
batteries
beats
technique
smiles
and the list goes on, are languages that dancers speak.
have you ever been to a dance performance and wonder that the dancers always look so happy and smiling, they make the dance look so effortless. the audiences enjoy the performance.
what goes behind the scene is a whole load of hardwork, sweat, tears and pain.
once a dancer goes behind the curtains, they run off to the changing room and in a split second change into another costume, another different hair accessory too, even while running they are stripping.
they go through many hours of rehearsals just perfecting a 3min dance item.
dancers have to be versatile, the teacher can all of a sudden, change the dance routine just 1 hour before showtime and they have to learn fast and perform as if its perfect!
its a fast paced sport, i must say. teachers usually teach the work ONCE
you get it-good.if you don't-it's your problem to find out and learn.
jump sautes for 3 mins
piroutte 32 turns
grande jete from one corner to the other
stay on pointe for 30mins
stretch, splits- perfecting it to a 180 degrees
...
all these make one very tired and want to rest, but you just know that you cant stop.
discipline is a must.
