here's some highlights of korea as promised (:
i shall not go into those nitty gritty details, it'll probably bore you guys to death. hahah
so firstly, i would have to thank woei xin, mann, diana, vanessa & zhengda for coming down to the airport to see me off! (: (: really appreciate it guys! hahah, actually i sensed something fishy when mann smsed me a few nights before i left. but really, you guys caught me by surprise, suddenly just appearing like that. THANK YOU!!!
yeah so my journey begins. arrived KL in 45mins. collected my baggage & waited for shirley to come to check in again. the 7hour plane ride there was horrendous! i couldnt even get proper sleep. every hour i get up and toss&turn in the seat, trying to get into the most comfortable position to sleep. but i cant! what's more its korean air and there's no individual tv so i cant spend my time watching movies away either ):
off the EVERLAND. it is the largest theme park korea! apparently Everland was selected one of the world's top5 theme parks in 2002 by the US 'Amusement Business'. it has dozens of rides but unfortunately due to the rain when we got there, most of them were closed! so we just walked round seeing stuff. It has a zoo within the premises too. it was super cool! we were brought into the lions&bears enclosure in a minibus, so we were just separated by just a glass window, it was so so so close. they are really really huge compared to those in the Singapore zoo. after that we went to a 3D simulator ride. wolves were chasing us & falling into rivers with water spraying on us & stuff. sat the skyride! the view was BRILLIANT & it was so so cold! the trees are so nice, reddish orangey colour and the flowers too. ohh, we ate ice-cream too! it didnt melt at all since its so cold outside.
went to HERBLAND-Asia's biggest herbs park reseaching&raising 550 species of herbs.the representative gave us an introduction of the herbs they have. he was so funny, he kept going "yoooha! wah! bahh!" and all those funny expressions. hahah, and i fell after taking a picture with this millennium old pine. and me ankle kinda cracked-in a good way. it cracked back into position! hahah. it was so slippery!
spend the night at Kumho Resort. and it SNOWED at the second day! (: (: the snow just got heavier as the day passed on. went to a factory visit to a battery company. we got to see the machineries & processes at work. we ate wrapped vegetables, nice! its like wrapping the rice & meat in a variety of raw vegetables where we can choose from.
the dreaded 6hour drive down to the O2 Ski Resort. i totally hate long drives. and true enough just as i expected, my motion sickness starts kicking in & i puked. i lost my appetite for dinner. and the food was the same so i satisfied my stomach with instant noodles(: (: yum, so much better food for me! went to the hot bath&sauna. shiok shiok! hahah, its good for such cold weather.
suppose to go skiing but the wind was too strong for anyone to even stand still. its -18deg! eventually we went to another ski resort. and again, my motion sickness kicks in! downed a whole bottle of sprite to get rid of the air in my stomach.
ohh, and skiing was super fun! no i can officially ski!!! my last skiing experience was a disaster, i could hardly even walk let alone ski. but this time i didnt even fall and i successfully skied down the slope! yay! (:
ginseng chicken soup for all. omg, its heavenly! we had one whole chicken per person! its so warm and nice to eat piping hot food. we rushed through the meal cause we were running late for a show. its a breakdance comedy produced by Jump. It was AWESOME!!! they are so so so good. and they are coming to Singapore in Feb 2009. the tv is showing the ad now- its entitled 'Breakout'. went shopping finally at Doota.
went for Seoul city tour. went to GYEONGBOK PALACE, NATIONAL FOLK MUSEUM, THE BLUE HOUSE, NATIONAL GINSENG OUTLET, AMETHYST SHOWROOM.
oh and Myeodong Street for shopping! hahah, i disappeared by myself to shop at the streets. and my aunt had a panic attack cause i went off without telling her. oh she was so mad at me. hahah!
we had a scrumptous dinner. it was buffet with lots&lots of food. though in korea, only the high class end get to enjoy such food, but to us Singaporeans its like nothing compared to those over here. hahah.
generally the food in korea is the same everywhere. kimchi kimchi kimchi kimchi, beef beef beef.
hahah, i was kinda sick of the food after the first few days. so i ate really little at meal times. i just ate rice and veges. cause the beef kinda stinks after some time and i dont like the smell of it.
but i bought back lots of seaweed from the duty free shop we went to. sigh i kinda regretted not buying back the xinla instant noodles. i couldnt cause my baggage is overload already! ): and my kimchi got taken away at the customs! i didnt know that i cant put into hand carry & its not even liquid! sad.
overall its fun and cold! now that i'm back, my skin is peeling and slowly recovering from food poisoning from the airplane food!! ):
my appetite is unfortunately still not back yet, i dont know why. i cant even finish a standard bowl of noodles which i usually have at home.
there's still air in my stomach. hahah
